Reginald Mengi
The London Court of Appeal has refused
permission for Reginald Mengi to appeal the judgment in Mengi v Hermitage. This
was Mengi’s third and final attempt to seek permission to overturn the judgment
handed down by Lord Justice Bean in December 2102.
Mengi made an application to appeal at the end of
the trial and later in writing to the Court of Appeal which was refused by Lord
Justice Buxton on the reasons stated below. A panel of three Appeal Court
Justices yesterday refused to interfere with the original verdict of Lord
Justice Bean citing the mendacious nature of Mengi’s evidence as a major a
major factor in the refusal.
