In 2005, when Benjamin Mengi began his savage and brutal campaign to drive British investors Stewart Middleton and Sarah Hermitage from Tanzania, he came to the gates of Silverdale Farm with the Moshi police who were armed with AK 47 machine guns which were clearly visible in order to intimidate the investors and stated: This was a normal occurrence. Mengi stated in front of the police,

“I will drive you from Tanzania cut to pieces in a coffin….I am black and you are white and the police are in my hands.”
