Mengi v Hermitage: Libel Claim Successfully Defended

Wednesday 26 January 2011

Kikwete ignores rule of law and gives hugs, kisses and support for Benjamin Mengi.

PRESIDENT KIKWETE HAD A CHOICE.

TO SUPPORT THE RULE OF LAW AND PROTECT THE INTERESTS OF BONA FIDE BRITISH INVESTORS OR THE CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES OF ONE OF HIS COUNTRYMAN THAT HE IS SEEN HERE HUGGING AND KISSING.

HE MADE HIS CHOICE

His actions are an indictment on Tanzania and should lead the UK to suspend all aid to Tanzania until and unless Kikwete honours his promises to apply the rule of law to this case and force Benjamin Mengi's conduct to be accountable.
President Kikwete promised the British government that he would apply the rule of law to the Silverdale Farm.  He reneged on that promise and is seen here, hugging and kissing Benjamin Mengi the man his own Minister of Investment described as corrupt and destroying all his government was trying to do in terms of attracting foreign investment.
